Basement: Done Like Dinner

So, terrible blogger that I am between work at my paying job, and work on the basement reno, there's been no updates since May (yup, bad blogger, I'm slapping myself in the face right now!). I will be attempting to catch up soon, promise!  But ... in the meantime, we are happy to say that we have stuck a fork in the basement reno and called it done. we've even gone so far as to have it posted for rent!

And in an effort to appease... here are some sneak peaks of our high low reno. More details to come, promise!

Now, if you cast your mind back (or go here) you might remember these pictures of the old laundry room and hallway..

Yup it was pretty bad.  The "laundry room" was unfinished (aka spider Valhalla), with exposed studs pipes and foundation wall.  The laundry machine itself was never plumbed correctly (it drained into the giant concrete sink, so we had a "lovely" whooshing sound reverberate through the house every time it was draining... and the soapy + ... (I'll let you fill in the blanks) smell post laundry day, uggg!).

So, we knocked down the wall that made the useless hallway floor plans here), and opened her right up.  Now... we've got this bright open room as the kitchen for the suite.  So proud!!

Oh, and the Living room... the stucco and burgundy beauty that she was.  Has gone from this:

To this!  It is now fresh clean and up to date - but with a nod to our house's history (built in 1961) with our ceiling lights.

I can't wait to fill you all in on the insulation to completion activities, as well as everything else we've been up to in the last few months!
